The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) is proud to announce THE LOVE TOUR, which will bring our powerful voices and message of unity to the heartland. From July 7-9, 2024, the 300-member Chorus, under the direction of Jacob Stensberg, will travel to Iowa and Nebraska, joining forces with local LGBTQ choruses and advocacy groups at each stop to elevate the Chorus’s mission of transforming and connecting people through song.
In each city of THE LOVE TOUR, the Chorus will be joined by a local chorus and also shine a light on local LGBTQ+ nonprofits that are investing in advocacy, education, and the celebration of our shared queer culture and people. In Iowa City, the Chorus will partner with the Quire of Eastern Iowa, as well as the family of Puck Carlson, the teen who is the lead plaintiff in the fight against bills that target LGBTQ+ rights in the state. In Omaha, we will join the River City Mixed Chorus and OutNebraska, an organization that invests in advocacy, education, and culture. In Des Moines, we will work with Iowa Safe Schools to help create a fun VIP experience for kids and give them a great time at the concert, where they will share the stage with the Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus.

For the Iowa City performance, there will be no paper or virtual tickets; once you make your purchase online, your name will be added to the guest list and you will check-in at the door of concert hall. If you do not receive a confirmation email after making your purchase, please email saramay@thequire.org to confirm your purchase.
For the Omaha performance, this event is being offered free of charge, but, due to limited seating, tickets are REQUIRED. In lieu of charging admission, RCMC is collecting free-will donations to benefit OutNebraska, an organization dedicated to empowering, celebrating, and growing LGBTQIA2S+ communities in Nebraska.
For the Des Moines performance, this is an outdoor Amphitheater offering first come first serve seating to all. Tickets are free and open to the public.

River City Mixed Chorus - For 40 years, the River City Mixed Chorus (RCMC), Omaha, Nebraska’s only LGBTQ+ community choir, has been giving voice to the hopes of many that yearn for a more fully inclusive and diverse society. Over those many years, Omaha has changed and RCMC has changed with it – growing from a group of 10 friends singing at The Max to more than 150 singers who perform at Omaha’s most prestigious arts venues, including the Orpheum Theater and Holland Performing Arts Center. Iowa Safe Schools - The mission of Iowa Safe Schools is to provide safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environments and communities for LGBTQ and allied youth through education, outreach, advocacy, and direct services. All students need a safe, supportive atmosphere in which they can learn, including students that are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning (LGBTQ). Unfortunately, bullying, harassment, and discrimination against LGBTQ students occurs often in our schools. In fact, 82% of transgender youth report that they feel unsafe at school and 74.1% of LGBTQ students were verbally bullied in the past year because of their sexual orientation. As these students face verbal and physical harassment, educators, policy makers, parents, and other students are often hampered by the lack of quality information and resources to protect LGBTQ students. OutNebraska - We believe in a Nebraska that embraces and celebrates the full spectrum of LGBTQIA2S+ people. Often, LGBTQIA2S+ Nebraskans experience discrimination, disparities, and isolation – particularly transgender people and people of color.
