Crescendo honors champions who support the LGBTQ community and advance LGBTQ equality through their commitment to change, their leadership and their actions. This year’s event will took place in person, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco.
The evening included performances by the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and surprise guest appearances. Guests were welcomed for festive cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a multicourse gourmet seated dinner complete with live music, awards and a fabulous live auction. The evening concluded with a champagne and dessert reception where guests will toast to an unforgettable night. Below you will find photo galleries from the event.

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi
Nancy Pelosi has represented San Francisco in Congress for more than 35 years. She served as the 52nd Speaker of the House of Representatives, having made history in 2007 when she was elected the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House. Pelosi made history again in January 2019 when she regained her position second-in-line to the presidency – the first person to do so in more than six decades. Speaker Pelosi is the chief architect of generation-defining legislation under two Democratic administrations, including the Affordable Care Act and the American Rescue Plan. Pelosi is fighting For The People: working to lower costs, increase paychecks and create jobs for American families.
Speaker Pelosi led House Democrats for 20 years and previously served as House Democratic Whip. In 2013, she was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Seneca Falls, the birthplace of the American women’s rights movement.
Under the Biden-Harris Administration, Speaker Pelosi led the House in crafting and enacting the American Rescue Plan. This life-saving legislation turned the tide of the pandemic: getting vaccines into hundreds of millions of Americans’ arms, delivering direct assistance to families in need, creating millions of new jobs, supporting teachers, police officers, firefighters, transit workers and other frontline heroes, and returning children safely to schools. Mayor London Breed - Inaugural Nancy Pelosi Ally Award
Mayor London Breed is a native San Franciscan, raised by her grandmother in Plaza East Public Housing in the Western Addition. She graduated with honors from Galileo High School. In June 2018, Mayor Breed was elected to be the first African American woman and second woman in San Francisco history to serve as Mayor.
She has focused on helping the City’s homeless population into care and shelter; adding more housing for residents of all income levels; helping those suffering from mental health and substance use disorder on San Francisco’s streets; ensuring that all San Franciscans have access to a thriving economy; making San Francisco a cleaner and safer city; and furthering San Francisco’s leadership in combating climate change.

Tribal Chairman Greg Sarris and the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria - Visionary Award
Greg Sarris received his Ph.D. in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University, where he was awarded the Walter Gore Award for excellence in teaching. He has published several books, including Grand Avenue, an award-winning collection of short stories, which he adapted for an HBO miniseries and co-executive produced with Robert Redford.
He is serving his sixteenth consecutive elected term as Chairman of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. In addition to serving as Chairman of his Tribe, he serves as President of the Tribe’s Economic Development Board, overseeing all of the Tribe’s business interests, including the Graton Resort and Casino.
Formerly a full professor of English at UCLA, and then the Fletcher Jones Professor of Creative Writing and Literature at Loyola Marymount University, Greg now holds the title of Distinguished Emeritus Graton Endowed Chair in Native American Studies at Sonoma State University, where he taught a number of courses in Creative Writing, American Literature, and American Indian Literature.
His book How a Mountain Was Made, a collection of stories was published in October 2017 and was awarded a Bronze Medal from Independent Publisher Book Awards. His book Becoming Story: A Journey among Seasons, Places, Trees, and Ancestors was released in April 2022.
He is executive producer of I Am A Noise, a Joan Baez documentary film, appointed as Chair to the Board of Trustees for the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, Co-Chair of Smithsonian Campaign, and elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Brian Boitano - Vanguard Award
Olympic Gold medal figure skater Brian Boitano is more than just a champion on the ice; he’s a winner in the kitchen and on television as well. His career spans the worlds of food, figure skating, and entertainment.
Boitano’s competitive record is unmatched. In addition to his Olympic gold medal, he holds more than 50 skating titles including four national titles, two world titles, and more professional titles than any other skater in the history of the sport.
He starred on the Food Network and Cooking Channel’s What Would Brian Boitano Make? and started the trend of celebrity cooking shows. Boitano published a popular cookbook of the same name, and his show was named by TV Squad as one of the Top 10 Food Network shows to watch. His HGTV series, The Brian Boitano Project, garnered the highest-ever ratings for a home improvement series.
... Boitano has provided commentary on skating shows for ABC, NBC, ESPN, and Turner and has hosted Hallmark’s popular Home and Family show. Most recently, during the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Brian co-hosted Olympic Ice, Peacock’s exclusive daily program.

... Boitano has provided commentary on skating shows for ABC, NBC, ESPN, and Turner and has hosted Hallmark’s popular Home and Family show. Most recently, during the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Brian co-hosted Olympic Ice, Peacock’s exclusive daily program.
Boitano's list of accomplishments includes winning a prime-time Emmy award and producing more than 30 television specials. Boitano is a member of the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, The World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, and the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame. He is an author, keynote speaker, and philanthropist.
In September 2019, Boitano opened his first Boitano’s Lounge at
the Kindler Hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska.
