Carol Kuester
Carol Kuester is an urban planner and serves as Director at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission delivering mobility programs in the Bay Area. Her team manages the FasTrak® toll payment system and Clipper®, the iconic card for seamlessly accessing the region’s two dozen transit operators and bikeshare program. These programs put Commission policies into action and keep millions of Bay Area travelers moving. A native of Sonoma County, Carol earned an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at UC Davis and a Master’s in Urban Transportation Planning from UCLA. She also studied at the New School for Social Research in New York, spent a year at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and worked in northern Germany for several years.
In addition to serving on and supporting various industry and government boards professionally, Carol also previously served on the Board of the Amador Valley Marching Dons, a group of 300 student musicians. She loves outdoor activities, bicycling, bakeries, and international travel. She lives in the East Bay with her German husband and two sons.
